This policy explains what personal data Listingo collects when you use listingo.co.in, why we collect it, who we share it with and the choices you have. It is written for everyone who uses the site: people looking for a business, people who write reviews or send enquiries, and business owners who list with us.
We handle personal data under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the rules made under them. In this policy, "Listingo", "we" and "us" mean the team that runs listingo.co.in, and "you" means anyone who uses it.
The short version
- You can browse and search without an account, and we don't ask for more than we need.
- We don't sell your personal data.
- When you contact a business through Listingo, the details you enter go to that business so it can reply.
- Reviews, and the details a business publishes on its listing, are public.
- Payments are processed by Razorpay. We never see or store your full card or bank details.
- You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it or to delete it at any time.
What we collect
Information you give us
| When you… | We collect |
|---|---|
| Create an account | Your name, email address and password (stored only in scrambled, "hashed" form). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and Google account ID from Google; we never receive your Google password. |
| Update your profile | Your phone number, if you choose to add it. |
| Write a review | Your star rating, the review title and text, and the date. Your name is shown with your review. |
| Send an enquiry, booking request or message to a business | Your name, email address, phone number, message and, for bookings, the date and time you asked for. |
| Use the contact form | Your name, email address, phone number (optional), the topic and your message. |
| Report a listing or review | The reason and any details you give. |
| List, claim or verify a business | The business's name, address, map location, phone, WhatsApp, email, website, social profiles, opening hours, description, photos and products or services. To claim or verify a business, we also collect the evidence you give us, such as a note or a business document. |
| Buy a plan, placement, badge or ad | What you bought, the amount, any coupon used, and the payment reference and status that Razorpay sends us. Razorpay collects your payment details directly. |
Information collected automatically
- Technical data: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you request and the time of each request. Our servers and our security provider keep this in logs to run the site, fix faults and stop abuse.
- Approximate location: our network provider, Cloudflare, tells us the city and region your IP address is in. We use this only to suggest businesses nearby, and it may not be accurate.
- Precise location, only if you allow it: when you choose "Near you" or the location pin and your browser asks for permission, we use your device's location to sort results by distance. It is used for that request only and isn't saved to your account.
- Listing activity counts: when someone views a listing or taps to call, WhatsApp or visit a website, we record the event against the listing so the owner can see how it performs. These counts don't identify you.
Children
Listingo is intended for adults. You must be 18 or older to create an account. We don't knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has given us their details, contact us and we'll delete them.
How we use your data
- To provide the service: running your account, publishing listings and reviews, sending your enquiries and bookings to businesses, and showing businesses near you.
- To communicate with you: confirming your email address, password resets, replies to your enquiries and reviews, notices about your listing (such as edits approved, a plan about to end or a listing about to expire), payment receipts, and answers to messages you send us.
- To process payments: creating orders with Razorpay, confirming payments, issuing receipts and, where our Refund and Returns Policy allows, refunds. If you start a checkout and don't finish, we may email you a reminder; each reminder has a link to stop them.
- To keep Listingo trustworthy and safe: checking listings against our Listing Eligibility rules, finding duplicate or fake listings, reviewing reports, limiting how often forms can be sent, and investigating fraud or misuse.
- To improve the site: understanding which features are used and fixing problems.
- To meet legal duties: keeping financial records and responding to lawful requests from authorities.
We use your data because you have given your consent (for example, by creating an account or sending an enquiry) or for purposes the law allows without separate consent, such as meeting a legal duty or responding to an emergency. You can withdraw your consent at any time, as described in Your rights and choices. Withdrawing consent doesn't affect anything done before, and some features may stop working without the data they need.
What is public
Some information is meant to be seen by everyone and may be indexed by search engines:
- A business listing and everything the owner chooses to publish on it, including contact details, address, photos and opening hours.
- Reviews, with the reviewer's name, rating and date, and the owner's reply.
Please don't put personal information that you want to keep private in a review, a reply or a public listing.
Who we share data with
We don't sell or rent personal data. We share it only in these cases:
- Businesses you contact. Enquiries, booking requests and messages go to the business, including your name, email, phone and message. What the business does with them is its responsibility.
- Service providers who help us run Listingo. They may use your data only to provide their service to us:
- Razorpay, for payments
- Oracle Cloud, where our servers are hosted in India
- Cloudflare, for content delivery and security
- Zoho, for sending email
- Google, for "Continue with Google" sign-in
- Esri (ArcGIS), for the map images on listing pages; your browser loads these map images directly from Esri
- OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service, to turn an address into a map location when an owner sets up a listing
- Advertising partners, as described in Cookies and advertising.
- Authorities. We share data when the law requires it, when a court or government body lawfully asks for it, or when it's needed to protect someone's safety or to investigate fraud.
- A change of ownership. If Listingo is merged or sold, the data would pass to the new owner. It would still be protected by this policy, and we would tell you beforehand.
Cookies and advertising
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. Listingo uses a small number of them:
| Cookie or storage | What it's for | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|
| Session cookie | Keeps you signed in as you move between pages. | 2 hours of inactivity |
| XSRF-TOKEN | Security: proves a form was sent from our site. | 2 hours |
| Remember-me cookie | Keeps you signed in, only if you tick "Remember me". | Until you sign out |
| Cloudflare security cookies | Tell real visitors apart from automated traffic. | Up to 30 minutes |
| Browser storage for "Not now" | Remembers that you don't want to be asked for your location. | Until you clear it |
| Razorpay cookies | Set by Razorpay's checkout window when you pay. | Set by Razorpay |
These cookies are needed for the site to work, so they can't be switched off in our settings. You can block or delete cookies in your browser, but signing in and paying may then stop working.
Ads from Google and other companies
Listingo may show ads from third-party ad networks, including Google AdSense. When it does:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to show you ads based on your earlier visits to Listingo and to other websites.
- Google's advertising cookies let Google and its partners choose ads for you based on those visits.
- You can turn off personalised advertising from Google in Google's Ad Settings, and learn more at How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
- You can turn off personalised ads from many other ad companies at aboutads.info/choices.
Ads that businesses buy on Listingo itself, and listings marked "Featured" or "Sponsored", don't use tracking cookies. We count how often these ads and placements are seen and clicked without recording who saw or clicked them.
How long we keep data
- Your account and profile: for as long as your account is open. Once you ask us to delete it, we delete your account within 30 days.
- Reviews: while your account exists. When your account is deleted, your reviews are deleted too.
- Enquiries, bookings and messages: for as long as the business's listing exists, so both sides can see the conversation. If you delete your account, they're no longer linked to it, but the business keeps what you sent, just as it would keep an email from you.
- Contact-form messages: up to 2 years, so we can follow up on the same matter.
- Payment records and receipts: 8 years, because Indian tax and accounting laws require it.
- Server and security logs: usually up to 90 days, or longer if they're needed to investigate an incident.
- Claim and verification documents: until the request is decided, and then only as long as needed to show how it was decided.
How we protect your data
We protect your data with measures including:
- encrypted connections (HTTPS) across the site
- passwords that are stored only in hashed form
- limits on how often sign-in and forms can be tried
- staff access that depends on each person's role
- an audit trail of staff actions
- verification documents stored privately, not on the public web
Uploaded photos have hidden location (GPS) data removed. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your personal data, we'll tell you and the Data Protection Board of India as the law requires.
Your rights and choices
You have the right to:
- Access a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how we use it.
- Correct or update it. Most of it you can change yourself in your profile or your business dashboard.
- Delete it, by asking us to close your account.
- Withdraw consent to how we use your data. We'll stop the uses that rely on your consent.
- Stop non-essential emails with the "Email preferences" or "Unsubscribe" link at the bottom of those emails.
- Nominate someone to use these rights for you if you die or become unable to.
- Complain to our Grievance Officer. If you're not satisfied with the answer, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
To use any of these rights, contact us through the contact form from the email address on your account. We may ask you to confirm your identity first. We reply within 30 days.
Grievance Officer
If you have a concern about your personal data or about content on Listingo, contact our Grievance Officer:
- Grievance Officer, Listingo
- Email: [email protected], with "Grievance" in the subject line
- Address: Cyber City, DLF Phase 3, Gurugram, Haryana 122002, India
We acknowledge a complaint within 24 hours and aim to resolve it within 15 days.
Changes to this policy
We update this policy when our services or the law change. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when it was last changed. If a change significantly affects how we use your data, we'll tell you by email or on the site before it takes effect.
