This policy lists every cookie and similar technology Listingo uses, what each one does and how long it lasts. It adds detail to the cookies section of our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal data in general.
The short version
- Listingo uses only the cookies it needs to work: to keep you signed in, to protect forms and payments, and to keep the site secure.
- We don't use analytics or advertising cookies, and we don't use cookies to follow you around other websites.
- Some services we rely on, such as Cloudflare, Google sign-in and Razorpay, set cookies of their own. They're listed below.
- You can delete or block cookies in your browser at any time, but signing in and paying may stop working if you do.
What cookies and similar technologies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to keep. Your browser sends it back each time you open another page on that site, which is how the site knows you're the same visitor who signed in a moment ago.
A website can also save small pieces of information in your browser's local storage (kept until you clear it) or session storage (cleared when you close the tab). Unlike cookies, these are never sent to our servers on their own; only the page that saved them can read them.
Cookies that Listingo sets are first-party cookies. Cookies set by another company's service, such as Google's sign-in, are third-party cookies and are governed by that company's own policy.
Cookies Listingo sets
These are all strictly necessary. Without them you couldn't sign in, submit a form or pay, so there is no setting to switch them off.
| Cookie | What it's for | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|
listingo-session | Keeps you signed in as you move between pages, and holds short-lived details such as the message shown after you save a form. It contains a random identifier, not your name or password. | 2 hours after your last visit |
XSRF-TOKEN | Security. Proves that a form, such as a review or an enquiry, was sent from Listingo and not from another website pretending to be you. | 2 hours |
remember_web_… | Keeps you signed in between visits. It's set only if you tick Remember me when you sign in. | Until you sign out, and at most about 13 months |
Our cookies are marked Secure, so they're only ever sent over an encrypted connection, and the session cookie is marked HttpOnly, so scripts on the page can't read it.
Cookies set by services we use
| Service | Why it's used | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|
Cloudflare (__cf_bm, and cf_clearance if you're shown a security check) | Cloudflare delivers our pages and protects the site from attacks and abusive bots. It may set these cookies to tell real visitors from automated traffic. They don't identify you. | __cf_bm: 30 minutes. cf_clearance: for as long as the security check you passed stays valid. |
Google (g_state, and Google's own cookies on google.com) | Used only for Continue with Google and the Google sign-in prompt shown to visitors who aren't signed in. g_state remembers that you closed the prompt so it isn't shown again straight away. Google reads its own cookies to know which Google account you're signed in to; we receive your name and email address only if you choose to continue. | Set by Google |
| Razorpay | Razorpay's checkout window sets cookies while you pay, to process the payment securely and help prevent fraud. We never see or store your full card or bank details. | Set by Razorpay |
You can read how these companies use cookies in Cloudflare's cookie policy, Google's cookie policy and Razorpay's privacy policy.
Information kept in your browser
| Name | Where | What it's for | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
listingo:near-me | Local storage | Remembers your answer to "See what's near you": that you chose Not now, so we don't ask again, or that you allowed your location. Your location itself is never saved here or on your account. | "Not now" is remembered for two weeks. Otherwise, until you clear your browser data. |
listingo.compare | Session storage | The listings you've picked to compare side by side. | Until you close the tab |
Maps and embedded content
Map images on listing pages are loaded by your browser directly from Esri (ArcGIS). Esri receives your IP address and browser details, as any website does when it sends you an image, but Listingo doesn't set any cookies for the map.
A blog post or page may include a video from YouTube or Vimeo. The video provider may set its own cookies when the video loads or plays, under its own cookie policy.
Emails from Listingo
Some of our emails contain a tiny image and links that pass through Listingo before opening the page. They tell us whether an email was opened and which link was clicked, so we can see which emails are useful. You can prevent this by turning off automatic image loading in your email app. Every activity and marketing email has an Email preferences and Unsubscribe link at the bottom.
Advertising and analytics
Listingo doesn't currently use analytics cookies, advertising cookies or social media tracking pixels. Featured and Sponsored listings, and ads that businesses buy on Listingo, are counted without cookies and without recording who saw or clicked them.
If we start showing ads from an ad network such as Google AdSense, that network may use cookies to choose the ads you see, as described in our Privacy Policy. We'll update this page before that happens.
How to control cookies
- In your browser. Every major browser lets you see, delete and block cookies, usually under Settings, then Privacy or Site settings. You can delete Listingo's cookies and stored information at any time by clearing the site data for listingo.co.in.
- What stops working. If you block Listingo's own cookies, you won't be able to sign in, write a review, send an enquiry or pay. Searching and reading listings still work.
- Google sign-in prompt. Close the prompt to hide it for a while, or manage it in your Google Account settings.
- Private browsing. In a private or incognito window, cookies and stored information are deleted when you close the window.
Changes to this policy
When we add, remove or change a cookie, we update this page, and the "Last updated" date at the top shows when it last changed. If a change affects how we use your personal data, we'll also tell you on the site or by email before it takes effect.
Questions
If you have a question about cookies on Listingo, email [email protected] with "Cookies" in the subject line, or use our contact form. For a complaint about your personal data, you can write to our Grievance Officer, whose details are in the Privacy Policy.
